Plan of Study – Global Entrepreneurship

Curriculum & Program Outline

All students apply and are admitted to the UConn Graduate School. Students are expected to complete a 30 credits to complete the Global Entrepreneurship Master of Engineering program. The program takes approximately 2 years to complete. Courses and projects provide students with the necessary depth of study (beyond the undergraduate level) for a thorough understanding of modern engineering techniques and technologies.

Many courses are offered via online delivery.

M.Eng. Core Courses (6 credits)

  • ENGR 5311 – Professional Communication & Information Management
  • ENGR 5312 – Engineering Project Planning & Management

Entrepreneurial Core Courses (6 credits)

  • ENGR 5300 – Experiential Technology Entrepreneurship I
  • ENGR 5300 – Experiential Technology Entrepreneurship II

Technical Core Courses (9 credits)

Entrepreneurial idea-related engineering or science technical courses at the 5000 or 6000 level with advisor consultation and approval.

Note: For students working on healthcare-related entrepreneurial ideas, one of the Technical Core Courses must be BME 6086-020 - Entrepreneurship Life Sciences. Two “electives” (3 credits each) are required for the remaining required credits, which can be chosen from a list of entrepreneurial/business classes.

Entrepreneurial Elective Courses (6 credits)

In consultation with major advisor, selection of 2 courses. Examples:

  • MGMT 5335 – MBA Entrepreneurship
  • MGMT 4271 – Venture Consulting
  • MGMT 5223 – Managing Innovation and Change
  • MGMT 5335 – Venture Planning, Management, and Growth
  • FNCE 4319 – Entrepreneurial Finance

Capstone Project (3 credits)

  • ENGR 5315 – M.Eng Capstone Projects

Capstone projects focus on market survey, prototyping and/or product development. Students will be supervised under our entrepreneurial faculty members with the participation of our industrial entrepreneurial partners.

The Global Entrepreneurship Masters of Engineering is a 30-credit program.
