Nora Sutton

In late 2022, Nora Sutton assumed the role of Director for the Center for Advanced Engineering Education at the College of Engineering, where she leads all aspects of programming aimed at providing industry and working professionals with relevant, innovative, and cutting-edge educational opportunities to adapt to emerging technologies. Under Nora’s leadership, industry partnerships, program offerings, and enrollment have reached unprecedented levels of success. Nora’s journey with the University of Connecticut began in 2014 as a Development Officer for the College of Engineering, where she cultivated her expertise in building strategic partnerships that significantly contributed to fundraising achievements. Before dedicating her time to raising her sons, who share her passion for UConn as recent alumni and a current student, Nora gained valuable experience in project management and corporate real estate. She takes immense pride in showcasing the College of Engineering’s achievements and is always enthusiastic about collaborating and forging new partnerships, particularly in the realm of workforce development practices.

Lisa's commitment to community service has always been central to her career. With nearly two decades of service at the YMCA of Greater Hartford, Lisa has consistently prioritized building meaningful connections to propel strategic endeavors forward. In May 2022, Lisa transitioned her passion for fostering relationships to the University of Connecticut Center for Advanced Engineering Education, where she now serves as the Business Development Officer.

In her current role, Lisa collaborates closely with faculty members across the seven departments of the College of Engineering, as well as program staff, to provide vital support to both students and industry partners. Beyond her professional duties, Lisa is a member of the Women in Manufacturing CT Chapter and proudly serves as a Manufacturing Ambassador for the State of Connecticut.

Rory McGloin is an award-winning Associate Professor in the Department of Communication. Professor McGloin’s career in higher education spans 15 years, including engagements with over 10,000 learners to date and 30 peer-reviewed journal publications. Rory serves as the Associate Director of Communication Programming and Development for the UConn College of Engineering’s Center for Advanced Engineering Education.

Kathy Erickson is an experienced professional who joined the Center in April 2024, bringing with her financial and engineering expertise that spans corporate, municipal, and higher education sectors. She began her career at General Dynamics and Sikorsky Aircraft, specializing in the research and development of composite materials for advanced aircraft. Transitioning to FedEx Corporation, she served as the regional engineering manager for the Northeast, where she improved operational and financial strategies for both air and ground operations. Now, with her education and background in industrial engineering, an MBA, and experience from UConn, Kathy is ready to fulfill her programmatic and financial role for the Center.

Shaina joined the Center for Advanced Engineering Education in July 2023 and provides administrative support to the team and assists with student support. Shaina graduated from UConn in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and recently served in an administrative role with a local manufacturing company.  As a UConn alumni and local resident, she feels at home on the Storrs campus and enjoys following our sports teams. Go Huskies!
